Halloween Oreo Cookie Truffles
These Halloween Oreo Cookie Truffles might be one of the easiest and cutest Halloween treats you’ll ever make! They’re rich, chocolatey, creamy on the inside, and covered in a delicious chocolate coating with adorable candy eyeballs and Halloween sprinkles.
And the best part? You only need three main ingredients, plus a few fun decorations, and there’s absolutely no baking involved!
I make mine with gluten-free Oreo cookies, Violife dairy-free cream cheese, and Enjoy Life chocolate chips. The combination creates a rich, soft cookie filling that tastes almost like chocolate cheesecake, wrapped in a smooth chocolate shell.
I especially love decorating these with candy eyeballs. Some have two eyes, while others have one giant eye that makes them look like little Halloween monsters. I even use the sprinkles to make what looks like crazy monster hair!
These are perfect for Halloween parties, dessert trays, or just a fun treat to make with the kids. They’re easy to customize, and you can make them as big or small as you want.
And of course, I make mine completely gluten-free and dairy-free, but you can easily substitute conventional ingredients at a 1-to-1 ratio if you don’t follow either of those diets.

Ingredient Breakdown
Gluten-Free Oreo Cookies
I use gluten-free Oreo cookies for this recipe, and they work perfectly! They have that classic chocolate cookie flavor with a sweet cream filling that makes these truffles taste rich and decadent.
You don’t need to remove the cream filling from the cookies. Everything goes right into the food processor together.
If gluten isn’t an issue for you, regular Oreo cookies work just as well.
You could also experiment with other sandwich cookie flavors if you want to make these for a different holiday or occasion.
Dairy-Free Cream Cheese
I use Violife dairy-free cream cheese, which has a thick, creamy consistency that works beautifully for these truffles.
The cream cheese binds the crushed cookies together and creates that soft, almost cheesecake-like filling.
If dairy isn’t an issue for you, conventional cream cheese can be substituted at a 1-to-1 ratio.
Different cream cheese brands can have slightly different consistencies, so you may need to adjust the cookie-to-cream-cheese ratio if your dough feels too wet or too dry.
Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips
I use Enjoy Life dairy-free chocolate chips for the chocolate coating. They melt beautifully and create a rich chocolate shell around the Oreo filling.
If you’re not dairy-free, regular chocolate chips work perfectly well too.
You can also experiment with dark chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or dairy-free white chocolate depending on the look and flavor you want.
Halloween Candy Eyes
Candy eyeballs are what turn these simple chocolate truffles into adorable little Halloween monsters!
I used a combination of single large eyes and pairs of smaller eyes. You can make every truffle different, which is part of the fun.
If you’re following a strict gluten-free or dairy-free diet, make sure the candy eyes you purchase meet your dietary needs.
Halloween Sprinkles
Halloween sprinkles add color, texture, and a little extra sweetness to the chocolate coating.
I used a combination of orange, black, and white sprinkles, and I love how they almost look like crazy monster hair when you sprinkle them around the candy eyes.
You can easily change the colors and decorations to make these for another holiday.
Ingredients
Oreo Cookie Truffles
8 gluten-free Oreo cookies
2 tablespoons dairy-free cream cheese
I use Violife.
½ cup dairy-free chocolate chips
I use Enjoy Life.
Decorations
Halloween sprinkles
Halloween candy eyeballs
Instructions
1. Make the Oreo Cookie Dough
Place the gluten-free Oreo cookies and dairy-free cream cheese into a food processor.
Process until the ingredients are completely combined and form a soft, workable dough.
If the dough feels too wet or sticky, add another Oreo cookie. If it feels too dry or crumbly, add a little more cream cheese.
You can also make these without a food processor! Simply crush the Oreo cookies in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin, then combine the cookie crumbs with the cream cheese until a dough forms.
2. Chill the Dough
Transfer the Oreo mixture to the refrigerator and chill for approximately 30 minutes.
This helps the dough firm up and makes it easier to roll into truffles.
3. Roll the Truffles
Remove the chilled dough from the refrigerator.
Scoop out approximately 2–3 tablespoons of dough per truffle and roll between your hands to form balls.
I actually made mine in slightly different sizes because I thought it was cute! You can make them as large or small as you’d like.
Depending on the size, this recipe makes approximately 6–7 truffles.
Place the rolled truffles onto a parchment-lined plate or tray and return them to the refrigerator while you prepare the chocolate.
4. Melt the Chocolate
Place the dairy-free chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.
5. Dip the Truffles
Remove the chilled Oreo truffles from the refrigerator.
Carefully dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, rolling it around until completely coated.
Using a fork, lift the truffle out of the chocolate and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
6. Decorate Your Halloween Truffles
While the chocolate is still soft and the truffle is resting on the fork, add your Halloween candy eyeballs.
I used two eyes on some of mine and just one large eye on others. The single-eye truffles are especially cute because they look like little Halloween monsters!
Sprinkle the tops with Halloween sprinkles, almost like you’re giving your little monsters crazy Halloween hair.
Carefully transfer the decorated truffles to your parchment-lined tray.
Repeat with the remaining truffles.
7. Chill Until Set
Place the decorated truffles into the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has completely hardened.
I keep mine refrigerated until I’m ready to serve.
8. Serve and Enjoy
These little Halloween Oreo Cookie Truffles are rich, chocolatey, adorable, and incredibly easy to make.
Serve chilled and enjoy!
Lauren’s Tips 💛
Adjust the Dough Consistency
Different brands of cream cheese can have slightly different textures, so don’t worry if your dough isn’t perfect immediately.
If it’s too wet, add another Oreo cookie. If it’s too dry, add a little more cream cheese.
You’re looking for a soft dough that holds together when rolled into a ball.
No Food Processor? No Problem!
I use my food processor because it makes this recipe incredibly easy, but you absolutely don’t need one.
Put your Oreos into a resealable plastic bag, crush them until they’re fine crumbs, and mix them with the cream cheese.
It takes a little more effort, but the results are the same.
Make Different-Sized Truffles
I actually made my truffles slightly different sizes because I thought it made them look even cuter.
Some are a little bigger, some are smaller, and they all have their own personalities once you add the candy eyes.
There’s no reason they all have to look identical.
Use a Fork for Dipping
A fork is one of the easiest ways to coat these truffles in chocolate.
Roll the truffle around in the melted chocolate, lift it with the fork, and let the excess chocolate drip off before decorating.
This helps prevent a huge puddle of chocolate from forming underneath each truffle.
Decorate Before the Chocolate Hardens
This is important!
You want to add your candy eyes and sprinkles while the chocolate is still soft so everything sticks.
I actually decorate mine while they’re still resting on the fork because I find it easier to position the eyes and sprinkles before transferring them to the tray.
Keep Them Refrigerated
I store my truffles in the refrigerator until I’m ready to serve them.
The chocolate coating stays firm, and I love the texture of the chilled Oreo filling.
Notes
This recipe makes approximately 6–7 truffles, depending on how large you roll them.
The recipe uses three main ingredients, plus optional Halloween decorations.
No baking is required.
Use the entire Oreo cookie, including the cream filling.
If your dough is too wet, add another cookie. If it’s too dry, add a little additional cream cheese.
Chill the dough for approximately 30 minutes before rolling.
Return the rolled truffles to the refrigerator while melting the chocolate.
Melt the chocolate in short microwave intervals to prevent overheating.
Decorate the truffles before the chocolate coating hardens.
Refrigerate the finished truffles for approximately 30 minutes, or until set.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for approximately 3–4 days.
Regular Oreo cookies, cream cheese, and chocolate chips can be substituted at a 1-to-1 ratio if gluten and dairy aren’t concerns.
Please check ingredient labels carefully. While all of my recipes are designed to be gluten-free and dairy-free, not every product I use is certified gluten-free. Always verify ingredient labels, especially on candy decorations, to ensure they meet your dietary needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these Halloween Oreo Truffles baked?
No! These are completely no-bake truffles.
The only heating involved is melting the chocolate coating in the microwave.
Do I need to remove the cream filling from the Oreos?
No. Use the entire Oreo cookie, including the cream filling.
The filling actually helps contribute to the creamy texture of the truffles.
Can I use regular Oreos?
Absolutely. If gluten isn’t an issue for you, regular Oreo cookies work just as well.
Can I use regular cream cheese?
Yes. I use Violife dairy-free cream cheese, but conventional cream cheese can be substituted at a 1-to-1 ratio.
Can I use regular chocolate chips?
Of course. I use Enjoy Life dairy-free chocolate chips, but any chocolate chips you enjoy can work.
Do I need a food processor?
No. A food processor makes the recipe faster and easier, but you can crush the cookies by hand and mix them with the cream cheese.
Why is my Oreo dough too sticky?
You may have a little too much moisture from the cream cheese.
Try adding another crushed Oreo cookie and mixing again until the dough holds together.
Why is my Oreo dough too dry?
Add a small amount of additional cream cheese until the mixture becomes soft enough to roll into balls.
Why do I need to chill the dough?
Chilling helps the dough firm up, making it easier to roll into balls and coat in melted chocolate.
Can I make the truffles different sizes?
Absolutely! I did.
Just keep in mind that the number of truffles you get will depend on how large you make them.
How do I keep the chocolate from getting too thick?
Melt the chocolate slowly in short intervals, stirring frequently.
If it begins to thicken as you’re working, you can briefly warm it again, being careful not to overheat it.
When should I add the candy eyes and sprinkles?
Add them immediately after dipping each truffle, while the chocolate is still soft.
This helps the decorations stick before the coating hardens.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes! These are a great make-ahead Halloween treat.
Prepare them in advance, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and keep them chilled until you’re ready to serve.
Can I freeze Oreo truffles?
Yes. You can freeze the finished truffles in an airtight, freezer-safe container.
Allow them to thaw in the refrigerator before serving. Keep in mind that some candy decorations may become slightly sticky or lose their appearance after freezing and thawing.
Can I make these for other holidays?
Absolutely!
Change the candy eyes and Halloween sprinkles to match Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, or another occasion.
The Oreo truffle base stays the same, so you can decorate them however you like.
